HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

More FREE Redbox Movies at Walmart

Have you seen the Redbox movie rental things at Walmart? You can rent movies for $1 per day - that is already a good deal. FREE, however, is even better. If you sign up with Redbox at http://redbox.com you will get a code for a free rental every Monday. Wait - it gets even better. You can get a free movie rental for each card that you use (your debit card, credit card, or your hubby's cards). It gets even better still - for the next four Sundays there is a freebie code available

12/7 11moms4uS
12/14 11moms4uA
12/21 11moms4uN
12/28 11moms4uT
01/04 11moms4uA

You can do the same thing on Sundays with multiple cards!!!

FREE BATTERIES at WALMART

It happens to almost every year: Christmas morning rolls around and I am missing the batteries for one toy or another! Then, we have to wait until the next day or go out and pay WAY TOO MUCH for the needed batteries.

Here is the solution: FREE BATTERIES!! Now, I can stock up on all sizes and be ready!!!

Here is the link: http://www.rayovac.com/alkaline/promotions.htm

Now, when you get to Walmart there are two big battery displays near the check-outs. The batteries that you want are are the very botttom of the display. It took me a while to find them because there are some of the same brand up higher on the display but they cost more.
The ones you want to get are 94 cents and the coupon is for $1 so they are FREE!!! Have I mentioned that I LOVE FREE ?!?!

The coupon is good until 2/28/09 and you can print as many as you want. I got five at once today with no problem. It would be wise to limit yourself to a few for each transaction. It is completely legit but sometimes cashiers can get in a snit.

UPDATE: I wondered why these batteries were 1/3 the price of another version of the same brand. I read the package today and they batteries are recommened for low-ouput devices (i.e. remote controls, clocks etc.) So, they probably won't work well for toys and such. Oh well, at least they are FREE!

Great Kroger Deal - Jimmy Dean Sausage

This is what you get:
2 rolls of Jimmy Dean sausage (They even make a lower fat version)
2 packages of Jimmy Dean patties or links
1 dozen eggs

What you pay: $3 for (before sale and coupons apx $17!)

What you do:
- look through the sausage rolls and find two with a sticker that says
BUY ONE ROLL -GET ONE LINK/PATTY FREE
-look for the little coupon blinkie machine right with the sausage for $1 off each roll
- in the sale paper it states that with a two roll purchase you get a dozen eggs free (the register takes it off automatically)

WHOO!!!! I have stocked up with freezer with sausage. I will be stocking up on eggs, too. The sausage is great in any recipe that you would use hamburger. These two items along with the free carnation milk from a couple of weeks ago will be most of what is needed for a Christmas breakfast casserole!

I haven't posted in a while

I haven't posted in a while. We made a trip to my parents for a few day and to my in-laws for a few days and then had a yard sale this weekend. The trips were nice. The yard sale was ALOT work for the little that it yielded but every little bit helps. Now back to the deals . . . . . .

66 cents Pop Tarts

There are Pop Tarts at Walmart that have a dollar off coupon on the front of the box. Using the coupon makes them 66 cents each!

Cooking for the Holidays

This weekend, while I was at my parents' house, my Dad helped me to cook 3 Boston butts and a turkey in the smoker. It took about 6 hours but it was pretty simple to do. We put two of the butts in the big crockpot on low and left them overnight. The next morning, I could easily remove the bones and tear up the meat. It made several good meals with leftovers. The other butt and the turkey were wrapped and frozen and will be saved for Christmas week. It will be nice to have the main part of several meals already done.

$1 for Gold Medal Whole Wheat Flour

The price of flour has really gone up over the last year. It's usually around $3 for a 5lb. bag! Gold Medal Whole Wheat Flour is $2 at Walmart right now. Use the $1 coupon and get it for $1 per bag. I have mixing half-white/half-whole-wheat flour and no one is complaining. I am getting several. For long term storage, flour should be put in the freezer for 24+ hours and then stored in an air tight container.

General Stuff about Shopping (Stockpiling)

My main goal when shopping is not necessarily to buy what I will be needing for that week but buying the best deals. This, of course, is a little easier after you have a stockpile. I try to maintain 3-6 months of things that won't go bad. Examples are: toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, razors, diapers, wipes, deodorant, air freshners, cleaning products, toilet paper and like stuff. I get all of these items free or nearly free and when I find that "perfect" deal - I get as many as I can. Then, I don't have to worry about that item for "x" months unless another great deal comes along.

The same concepts works for groceries. There are plenty of items that will last a really long time so when you find a great deal on those get as many as you can. After doing this for just a little while you will have more wiggle room in your budget to get more and more of the deals.

You have to change the way you think about groceries and how and what you eat. First, stop eating out. I know it's fun but it's not necessary. There are many meals that you can fix in 15 minutes and even more in 20-30 minutes. Take your lunch to work. Pack snacks for when you go out with the kids. Sometime when you are cooking - cook two - put one in the freezer.

You have to re-think the way your plan meals. You have to learn to shop for what is the best buy and then cook from what you have. This is the opposite of what most people do - decide what you want to cook and then shop for those items. It takes a little getting used to but once you have your stockpile growing you can usually cook what you'd like to have because you will have most things.

Thank you Carlene

Thank you, Carlene, for contacting me today and passing my info on to others! If anyone is interested in a coupon/saving class, please, contact me or leave me a comment and I'll see what I can work up.

It was such a nice day that we packed a lunch and headed to the park.
When we got there there were about 6 other children there - - all girls!!!
The boys had a great time running, jumping, swinging and sliding.

FREE Always Infinity

A couple of weeks ago there were $2 off coupons in the Sunday paper. I have been trying to find a deal on these since then. Today, when I went into Kroger, there were a ton of them in a clearance bin. I don't know if this is just my store or what. They were marked down to - - - $2!!!!! So, I headed back out to the van to get my coupons!

UPDATE: I ordered 20 $2 coupons from Ebay for $1.75 and I got 15 more boxes FREE!!! That's $110 worth of items for $1.75!!!

Easy Homemade Play Dough

I have alot of Kool-Aid left over from the 4th of July Planters deals. The boys wanted to play with play dough today but our old Dollar Tree play dough was all dried up. We made our own and made it colored and scented by adding a pack of Kool Aid.

You need
1 c. flour
1 pk. Kool Aid
1/4 c. salt
2 Tbsp. cream of tartar
1 Tbsp. oil
1 c. water

Whisk all ingredients together in a medium nonstick pot. Use a spatula or wooden spoon to stir over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until the mixture forms a ball. Knead until smooth. Store in a closed container.

Great Walmart Trip

I had to go to Walmart to return the free movies that we "rented" and decided to get a few things for which I had really great coupons.

6 Vlassic Dill Relish- FREE
4 Sea Pak Shrimp Poppers - 32 cents each
5 Goody hair accessories -17 cents each

Who Wants to Watch a Free Movie?

Visit this site to find a box near you and then click on the "Get a free rental" button. You can sign up for an email that will come every Monday with a code for a free rental!!! And to sweeten the deal even more you can use the same code more than once as long as you use a different card (check card, credit card, etc.). As long as you return it the next day the rental(s) are free!!! We got three tonight. It worked like a charm!
With the free movies and the cheap hot cocoa and snacks we are set for a fun and CHEAP movie night while Daddy watches football!

Cheap Cereal at Publix

I got cereal yesterday. It was 50 cents for a big bag of Honey & Oats Blenders. It is sort of like Honey Bunches of Oats.
It is B1G1. So that sale along with the coupon makes it 50 cents per bag.

Go here to print a $1 coupon

http://www.malt-o-meal.com/pages/special-offers/special-offers.php

Cheap Hot Chocolate

Depending on how much Nestle Hot Chocolate is at your local Walmart you can get it for 25 cents or maybe even free.

You can print a coupon here for 75 cents off
It's a great item to stock up on for the coming winter. My boys like the one with marshmallows that are shaped like little rabbits!

FREE Veggies

Fresh Valley Steamers are $1.00 at Walmart. The corn, green beans, peas, and mixed veggies are this price. There are some other items that are a little more that contain rice and/or sauce.

If you go to http://www.pillsbury.com/coupons-promotions/ and sign up you can
print $1 coupons make the veggies FREE!!

$1 Steam and Mash potatoes at Publix

Tomorrow (Tuesday) is that last day to get these at $1 per bag. Usually, I wouldn't buy such and item but at $1 per bag it's a great thing to have in the freezer to have real potatoes in a hurry.

They are B1G1 at Publix and right on the freezer door there is a blinkie coupon for $1 off. They are usually $3.99. The sales makes them $3.99/2 -$1=$1. Woo Hoo. Not free but a great thing to have in the freezer!

$141 worth of clothes for $11

As I was driving by Kmart today, I saw racks on the sidewalk with 99 cents signs on them. I had to stop.

Not bad for $11.

Field Trip To Jarrell Plantation

Today, we went on a trip to Jarrell Plantation. It is a "plantation" that was farmed by three generations of one family for 150 years before it was given the the state of Georgia. It was interesting for the boys to see what life was like long ago.

Another Fall Festival

The boys and I went to our second Fall Festival in three day. This one was at our "old school". I used to be the assistant director and the boys used to attend there. We ran into the director last week and she invited us to come. The boys had fun on the hay ride, playing games and, of course, eating!

Trick My Trunk Event

At our church, Vineville North Baptist Church, in lieu of Halloween, we have an event called "Trick my Trunk". People decorate their trunks or the back of their truck or vans and the kids go around and collect candy. Snow cones, popcorn and cotton candy were also available. There were several activities: rock climbing, bowling, a puppet show, karaoke, a giant slide and more!

The boys had a great time!

Lots of Goodies at Rite Aid ~ $87.25 for $13.64

I got lots of goodies at Rite Aide today. I got $87.25 worth of stuff for $13.64!!! Woo Hoo!!

I got:
2 Doritos = B1G1 sale
2 Cokes = $0.97 each
1 bag Kisses = $1.77
8-6 pks of raisins = $0.88 -(4)$1/2 cpn
4 True Blend Cover Girl Foundation - B1G1 sale
2 Cover Girl blush - B1G1 sale
2 Cover Girl powder - B1G1 sales
( I also used 4 cpns buy foundation get face product free)
The grand total was a little more than I had planned but somehow the B1G1 sale and the B1G1 coupons together didn't make it all exactly free since the foundation cost a couple more dollars than the other items. Still, overall, it was a great haul since that was the majority of my spending for the weekend!

The sale coupled with the coupons that you can print on the Juicy Juicy site makes it much more reasonable. It is $3.49 for two - (2)$1 coupons = $1.49 for two and that is great for all the little juice drinkers at my house!

Taking Inventory

I really need to take inventory of my fridges, freezers and pantry items. I have done one of the small freezer (on the top of the outside fridge). I need to do all the rest though. I think I could come up with a more varied menu if I knew what all was lurking in the dark recesses! This will be my challenge for tomorrow!!

How long should 240 rolls of toilet paper last?

I bought 60 50cent Cottonelle coupons on Ebay for just a couple of dollars!! Kroger will double the 50cent coupon, making the 4 pk FREE!!! I know have posted this before but it bears repeating. Now, I have 60 packs of toilet paper that practically free!!!! I can't wait until Cottonelle puts this coupon out again!

KROGER IS PAYING ME TO TAKE STUFF AGAIN

Glad Scented Oil PlugIns are $4.49 but they are paying a $4 catalina. Use B1G1 coupons from recent insert and the first two will cost you $4.49 but you'll get (2)x$4=$8 back. Use one of those $4 to buy two more and those will cost you 49cents and you'll get $8 more back!!! I am gonna hit several Krogers in town until I run out of coupons! I have been using the catalina to buy items from the clearance bins to add to my Christmas stash or to get gift cards!!!

Supper that almost cooks itself

Crockpot Italian Chicken

I threw some frozen boneless-skinless chicken breast in the crockpot and added: a chopped onion, a can of mushrooms and some Italian flavored diced tomatoes and a little water and let it cook all day. I put some rice in the rice cooker and let it go. When I was ready to serve it. I spooned it on the plate and threw a handful of mixed green on the plate and squirted it with some dressing. Tah Dah! Supper basically took care of itself!!

Great Time Bowling with GVA friends

Tuesday we met some other GVA families for bowling. The turn out was great! It was really nice to meet some other moms and Ms. Brown, who is a GVA teacher.
The kids seems to have tons of fun and enjoy interacting and talking with one another.
I have been hesitant in the past to make time for these get together but will be more diligent in the future about getting us to these events.

Dr. Zahi Hawass

On Thursday night, my sweet husband watched all three boys while I went to the Grand Opera House to see Dr. Zahi Hawass give a lecture entitled "the Great Pyramids: Secrets Revealed." I had a seat in the box area nearest the stage was was only a few feet in front of him.
Most people have seen Dr. Hawass on TV if they have watched any program about Egypt. He is Egypt's Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities and Director of Excavations at Giza, Saqqara, and the Bahariya Oasis.
It was entertaining and fascinating. He not only told us a little bit about his past finds but about the things that he hopes to do in the near future. He did a book signing afterwards and was kind enough to sign two books for me. I got one done for myself and one for my 6-year old Egypt fanatic.

Walmart Rant!!!!

I went to a different Wal-mart today than usual. Boy, was that a mistake! I got to the register and handed over my coupons and was told that Walmart doesn't accept printed coupons. I explained to the cashier that the Walmart coupon policy states that they DO accept printed coupons. She called someone over (that I can only assume was a CSM or assistant manager of some type) and she told me that they had not accepted them for years. They did not offer to call management or corporate or anything helpful. So, I told them that I was sorry but that I would have to leave all of the items with them and that I would go to a Walmart that knew their own policy! I was steamed! I called corporate and they took all the info and I expect to hear from the store sometime soon. Of course, I didn't have a copy of the policy with me. I changed my method of coupon storage last week and didn't transfer the copy of the policy. I have made three copies for my book so that I will have one for myself and extras to hand out!

Made a quick trip to Kroger - for the Cottonelle Deal and, of course, picked up a few more things. I spent $6.88 (half of which was for my Coke Zeros - that I HAVE to have). Before sales and coupons the total would have been about $21.

I got:

4 pks Cottonelle tp

Little Bathroom Floor

I got the carpet out of the little bathroom and got some
"tile" down.

It's not the best solution but it's the most inexpensive thing
that I could do on my own. I think it looks better and I know
that it smells better! I don't know who thought that putting
carpet in a bathroom was a good idea! They must not have
had little boys.
