Dirt Cheap Diapers at Walgreens!

The thanks for this great find goes to Shannon at http://thegroceryweekly.blogspot.com/

Here is the deal in a nutshell.
1. Go to the pharmacy and ask for the Walgreens $50 saving booklet.
There is a coupon there for $2.00 off Walgreen diapers
2. Pick up the July saving/rebate booklet at the front of the store. It is near the sale papers.
There is a coupon in there for $5.00 off two packs of Walgreen diapers.
3. Now get THREE packs of Walgreen diapers.
You get three because when you do, after your purchase you will get a coupon for $5.00 off
another Walgreen purchase.

So, the numbers: (3)x$5.99=$17.97
-$6.00
-$7.50
GRAND TOTAL: $4.47 plus tax and you get back $5.00 to use on something else

TIPS:
1. I had to try more than one store, one pharmacist wouldn't give me the booklet without a
review of my prescription meds. ( I don't take any!)
2. If the number seems a little confusing, it is because the coupons are Walgreen coupons and
they automatically adjust to the number of items that you are buying. So, you only need one
one of each type for each transaction. It is my understanding that you should be able to keep
the coupons because the cashier doesn't need them since they are Walgreen coupons but my
cashier said that she needed to keep them.
3. Don't use the $5.00 coupon on the next diaper deal or it won't print the second time.

I used the $5.00 on a large pack of toilet paper that was $4.00 and a bottle of nail polish.

GREAT DEAL. This deal should work until JULY 28th. I should be well stocked for diapers with a month to work this deal!

Planters Deal at Walmart 25 cents per can!

Today at my local Walmart on the clearance rack I found these left-over holiday Planters gift packs that contain a 9.25 oz can of cashews and a 10 oz can of Deluxe mixed nuts and they were marked $3.50! Using the Planters $3.00 off coupons, they were only 50cents per box. The Planters coupons can be found http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/Promotions/July4thPromo (you can print two). The expiration date on my boxes is August 09. So, they will still be good for quite a while! They are great for parties or to go in gift baskets.

KITCHEN TIP TUESDAY - Boiled Eggs

Boiled eggs are a great thing to keep in the fridge. You can safely store boiled eggs in the fridge for up to one week.

When you have them ready to go you can quickly have:
a portable breakfast
a great snack
egg salad or egg salad sandwiches
tuna salad or tuna salad sandwiches
deviled eggs
a "bulked up" tossed salad

My boys love them and will just eat them out of hand.

Works for Me Wednesday - Kids' clothes

My sons' laundry doesn't leave the laundry room unless they are wearing it!

I have a daughter (15) and three sons (6,3,2). Our laundry room is downstairs and the children's bedrooms are upstairs. The boys usually dress and bathe dowstairs in our bedroom. So, I have found it easier to have their clothes downstairs so that I don't have to take them all upstairs to put them away and then go upstairs to get them and bring them down again to dress them.

My solution has been to have a shelf in my laundry room next to my dryer that has four shelves. On the top shelf, I have everyone's "good" clothes because there aren't as many and all of them will fit on the top shelf and they can't reach them. Then each boy has his own shelf. There are generally four stacks: short, pants, short-sleeve shirts, and long-sleeve shirts. It is so much easier to take each item out of the dryer fold it and place it on the shelf. Shelves make it easier to see things and choose from the stack so that they don't wear the same two shirts over and over.

I, also, have one of those stackable plastic drawer things between my washer and dryer. We use it to store socks and underwear and other small items.

Kitchen Tip Tuesday - Breakfast for Supper

My family loves to have a BIG breakfast! This however isn't always easy to do in the mornings. So, once in a while we have breakfast for supper with all the fixings. Pancakes and/or waffles, bacon and/or sausage, eggs, hashbrowns, milk, juice - THE WORKS!!!

While you have the griddle out this is a great time to make some extra bacon to use later on sandwiches or in salads and extra pancakes or waffles for the freezer.

This is the recipe that my family prefers for pancakes. It was given me by my mother-in-law. She calls them Swedish pancakes. These pancakes are thinner than regular pancakes but not quite as thin as crepes. I have even given them to the kids with apple butter or jam or honey (I like flavored cream cheese) spread on them and rolled up.

Swedish Pancakes

The night before (Personally, I never do this) mix:

1 pk yeast

2 c. all purpose flour

2 c. warm water

1 tbsp. sugar

Leave in the fridge overnight.

The next morning (or when you are ready to use it) add:

1 egg

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. salt

3 tbsp. oil

Whisk and spoon onto an oiled griddle. Turn when the first side is covered in bubbles. The second side cooks really quickly.

Menu Monday

For our family a strict day to day menu doesn't work. Instead, it works better for me to list the options available for the week and then we can choose according to time constraints and what we feel like eating.

Breakfast
pumpkin bread and fruit
cereal and fruit
homemade waffles and fruit
cheese grits and fruit
honey biscuits and fruit
eggs, toast and fruit
cereal bars and fruit

Lunches
Leftovers
Macaroni and Cheese, broccoli, and peaches
Meatballs, Squash, Pineapple, and biscuits
Sandwiches and watermelon
Rice and eggs, green peas, and oranges

Supper
Turkey that was roasted on Sunday with sides
Enchiladas, rice and beans
Spaghetti, salad, rolls
Chinese Chicken Stirfry, Rice, Eggrolls
Grilled Hamburgers and Oven Fries
Grilled Chicken Sandwiches and Pasta Salad

Anyone have any new suggestions? We seem to have the same things over and over.
